Discovering Batu Cermin Cave

Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone Cave) is a historic geo-heritage site providing fascinating geological evidence that Flores was once submerged deep underwater. Embedded across the high limestone walls are ancient fossils of marine corals, prehistoric fish, and sea turtles dating back millions of years. It earned its name because morning sunlight piercing through narrow ceiling crevices reflects off mineral-salt rock walls, producing a brilliant mirror-like shimmer.

A historic limestone cave containing ancient marine fossils and mirror-like stone reflections when morning sunlight strikes the cavern walls.
